  1. Hi,

Ive searched the site for the topic but didnt find a complete guide how to create myself selectable subtitles an a DVD.
I found that there are programs to create subtitle files but I still dont know how the authoring (combining Video and Subtitles) works.
Can it be done with Ulead DVD Workshop ? Any other tool to do so ?

    many thanx in advance

latest dvd workshop 2 supports but it costs $500.

you can also use srt2sup and ifoedit (and dvd-lab if you want menus).

  3. I allready got a copy of the damned expensive DVD Workshop, but even if its so expensive, the manual doesnt say a word about subtitles. Can any1 give me a hint how to add them ?

  4. I don't use Ulead so I can't give specifics, but generally authoring programs will want the subtitles to be in BMP format with a script file (text file) listing the start/stop point for each subtitle. You can set the color, position, etc. with the authoring program.

Read the manual and check the help files. To the best of my knowledge the only programs that allow authoring with subtitles are: DVD Maestro, Sonic Scenarist, Reel DVD, Adobe Encore, and IFOEdit. Nice to know ulead can do it too.

Ulead dvd workshop 2 has a built in subtitle editor, just add your video track and select the video track and click on subtitle, add subtitle.

    .

it can't import any other standard subtitles formats than its own though. But someone will probably make a subtitle converter.
