I got this drive about 2 weeks ago.It does not burn @ 8x on the plus format.Ive tryed nearly every like changing from master to slave.Made no
difference.Took out the other dvdwriters (pioneer A105 and A106).And just
had the A107 on IDE 01.Still no diffrence.Ive changed the IDE cable for a
new ATA 133 Cable(and yes my pc is ATA 133).Still no diffrence.Ive formmated the main C: drive
and put a new copy of XP PRO.Same result. As of now im looking for some that either has the answer for me or can someone tell me where i can buy some 8x dvd-r because I realy dont like the plus format.Ive nothing but
problems with them.Ive never had single minus format disc go wrong on
my system using PIONEER A103, A104, A105 A106.So whats happen Pioneer.
Does anybody know if there is new firmware update? Checked pioneer
site there still going on about how good the A106 is.AND IT IS.

Maybe the A-07 doesnt like yr DVD+R media enough to burn x8???

Seriously though, I've had probs with crappy media and my Pioneers (A-03 to A-05) refusing to burn them at high speeds.... You may want to try diff. /better media and see how that works out...

    Good Luck

Are you using 8x certified media?

The 107/A07 won't burn at a higher speed than the media is rated for.

  6. Maybe there will be a firmware upgrade very soon to fix few listed problems. On many new releases there are some unforseen bugs. Kind of like buying version 7.00 of a piece of SW, things may be a little weird in some situations until 7.01 is released. perhaps firmware 1.01 will solve the problems.

  7. hey i'd be most greatful as well if someone could tell me where I'm going wrong! I've got Infiniti 8x +r media that only burns at 4 speed in the 107! I'm using Nero 6.3.0.2 and there's no 8x option - not even a 6!

  8. At the moment it looks like the only media available that will burn @8x on the Pioneer is Verbatim 8x DVD+R (MCC.....003). You'll have to wait for a firmware update and/or for other media to be available for 8x burning. Or buy a different burner

I don't get why people so obsessed with Pioneer.

You buy Pioneer 107, and then you find out that 8x DVD-R specs are not yet approved by DVD Forum (he-he), and that there are no 8x DVD-R disks.

If you'd buy Plextor 708, you could burn 4x DVD+R disks like Memorex and others at 8x.

The biggest reason why my self and others want Pioneer. Is because all the other drives seem to have problems.Besides from my own experence
ive used sonys 500a that didnt like cheep media. It only liked the plus format. This is after firmware upgrades and system format.Ive used LG 4040B
that was crap aswell it would not burn @ X4 even after firmware and system format. Then theres the NEC 1300i .It did not like cheep media and it would not burn @ 4 again with firmware and system upgrades. This is the first Pioneer Ive ever had a problem with.It also seems that all the other drives seem to prefre the plus format.I do not like the + format
because ive always had lots of diffrent problems them.Out of all the discs
ive burned the - R format seems to work in nearly all the dvdplayers. But the +Rs dont seem to aswell.Had alot complants from them discs.

Yeah man, I was just backing up movies last night at 8X's with my 708! I picked up some HP 4 speeders at staples that were on sale half off. They were +r's that work on both my dvd players and worked great.
    I only know-I know nothing.
