Nothing is inside it? And when I burn DVDs there is no Audio test needed to burn it + i still get all my audios.. so why is this folder created on a DVD when nothing is in it?

  2. Ill take a stab at this because I asked if its supposed to be empty about 2 weeks ago..Originally it was supposed to be a folder for audio extras, like extra sound formats and other high tech stuff. It never really caught on though, so its just a folder left in for compatibility reasons on most commercial dvds'. (this is what i was told) It is Not a necessary directory to have on a dvd/dvdr unless the original has stuff in it the folder (i still haven't found one). Hope this helps. *shrug* If you use something like Nero to make a dvd-video dvdr, you'll see there is an audio_ts folder that is created by default. Either way, its ok to have it or not usually. Ive downloaded backup .isos' that are just the Video_ts folder and it played fine on my computer and my jvc and my 2 apex dvd players.

  3. compatibility seems to be the main arguement for keeping it there..

there have been many many commercial dvd's released with no "AUDIO_TS" folder.. so i'm guessing its not really that big of a deal.

but it doesnt take up any space, and it doesnt hurt to do it..

The AUDIO_TS folder is for AOB files on a DVD-Audio disc.
The VIDEO_TS folder is for VOB files on a DVD-Video disc.

You can find out a little more here-

Not really worth much since there's very few Audio DVD players, much less disks available. It's still good to throw in the empty AUDIO_TS folder just to make older DVD video players happy.
