i will try and help as my german is pretty good
been living there for the past 29 years

Have you tried ripping it to the festplatte with DVDShrink oder DVDDecrypter? If those wont work, I don't know what will!

    All:

As I understand it, here is the OP's problem:

He is a newbie to this kind of thing. He is trying to back up encrypted DVDs and not having much success. He assumed the problem was with his old DVD drive (not sure if he means reader or burnere) and got himself a NEC 1300. He's using Nero 6.x.

It seems he is trying to back up a series of 6 DVDs (if I understood him right), and he gets error reports with numbers 2 and 5 (something along the lines of "Cannot read disk"), and he's looking for help. Unstated in his post is what happened with the other disks (#s 1,3,4 & 6).

I am trying to get more info from him. Although he doesn't say so, I am convinced he's not using a rip program (he doesn't seem to know they exist), just trying to read from the DVD. That would explain the error message, but not why he only gets errors with Disks 2 & 5. I have asked him about the other disks, let's see what he says.

Also, I'm not sure if his 6 disks are part of a series or just a random collection of 6 disks he happens to have with him. If the latter, it might explain the lack of errors with some disks, because they may simply be non-encrypted ones. But if they are a 6-disk series, I can't imagine just two disks being encrypted and the others not.

  8. Hi,

no he is not using a rip program but nero to make images on his harddrive and copy them, could be that they are too big????
DVD's 1,3,4 & 6 burn ok so his bet is to use DVD Shrink or some other ripper

the disks are from a series of 6 not 6 seperate ones.

  9. Dear Helper! Most of my german question about making a DVD-Image you did understud! The problem with my old DVD-reader could I solve! I build it out of the PC! As I mentioned, I could make from 4 DVDs a Image on a spezial partition (6 Gbytes) from the primare HD with 40 Gbites) and after it. I could burn it on a new DVD! It worked without problem and I could watch it! on PC and stand alone DVD-Driver! What I dont understand is, that it doesn´t work with 3 other DVDs from the same production and in the meantime with other short DVDs (10, 26, and 37 min)! I´ve had the rip tool DVD-Shrink, but I read under NEC-ND information, that with two or more "Rip-programms" it could be, that NEC doesn´t work correct!??? and it can create crashes!? I get it too!
My mean-problem is: that I don´t know where the shortcomingis:
In a faulty DVD writer and reader?
    In faulty DVD-disks?
In a faulty software Nero Burning Rom 6.3.00 pro
In a faulty installation or other mistakes in handling of it all.
I´m a novice in PC-handling and 75 year old. I kow no one in my acquaintance who can help me with "PC-Problemes"
Many thanks for every help and best regards
    M.H.

    I'd recommend these steps:
    • Rip with DVDShrink. Shrink to fit on DVD-R if needed.
Make sure that all vobs and ifos are in a folder named VIDEO_TS
Create an empty folder named AUDIO_TS (if it doesn't exist) beside VIDEO_TS
Make DVD ISO image with imgtools classic
      Burn image with DVDDecrypter.
This should work regardless of source DVD type and/or protection. At least I have never encountered a disc that wouldn't copy using these steps.
