Hi Folks,
I will be sending some PAL dvd's to my friend in USA.
He has an Lasonic DVD 1100 player, and says it can play back PAL \ NTSC
his TV being the standard NTSC.
Question ? does anyone know if the DVD player is set to playback in PAL
mode will it convert it automatically to NTSC for the TV ?
Regards
Mack........

Most DVD players can handle either format. Virtually all TVs in the US are single standard (NTSC). Your friend will most likely have to watch the DVDs on his computer.

Oh, and the DVD player will NOT convert the signal, unless you have a player that can convert standards (again, not very many of those over here).
Standard converting players do exist, but they cost more, and are more likely to be found in the lesser developed countries like France and Zaire.ICBM target coordinates:

HI SLK001,
Thankyou for your reply, at least I have some idea now if
it will play back or not on his TV.
Best Regards

Toshiba sd4900 and most JVC players have built-in PAL to NTSC converters. Some cost less than 100 bucks. You can check here for more info on different models.
