  1. hi

I have 2 *.mpg files and I would like to join them so that I could then convert to DVD and record them.

Is there a direct way to join, or do I have to convert to *.avi first? If I have to convert can anyone tell me how?

TMPGenc or Womble can do this. I prefer Womble as the sound can sometime go off sync with TMPGenc.

  4. If using tmpgenc the two mpegs will have to have the same specs. Not sure if this is the case with womble though as I have never used it.

I avoid to join either AVIs or MPGs, mainly because I always use subtitles.
Later, in authoring, I will join the VOBs.

Don't join them . Just put them both into the authoring program.
    they will play together
    Joining MPEG2 is error prone.

    thanks for all the replys.

About this joining the VOB's, does anyone know how to do that with IfoEdit?

So I use TMPGEnc to convert from *.mpg to *.m2v (dvd) and then I use IfoEdit and separatelly create one movie. Then I repeat the process but with the second *.mpg. Is that correct? then what do I do to Join the VOB's. What about the size? does the Joining of the VOB's also keeps the size between the 4000GB and 4700GB?

If the original mpgs are not DVD compliant , you will have to re-encode.
If you re encode you might as well join them.
If they are compliant you just put them both into the authoring program as
    is.

If you use Ifoedit you make VOBs separately like you said
and then put the VOBs in a folder and "Create IFOs" which will
make a DVD with both movies
