    Is it better to uninstall the current version that I have on my 'puter and then install the new? or will the new version just install over the top of the current one?

    It's nearly always better to do a fresh install of any program unless it specifically says that you should install over the top of the older version
    No program is idiot proof! I can prove it :-)
