  1. Capturing miniDV with Ulead VideoStudio. p3-1000 with old ASUS board (installed 512 RAM only sees 468), 30 GIG Maxtor drive. Inconsistently, I get a nag (video freezes for 1/4 second) while watching the captured clips, although sound does not break at all. When transferring back to DV camcorder, nag stays, this is how I know it is capture process problem. Will be trying to capture on friends Athlon 2400+ laptop tonight, want to confirm it is indeed HARDWARE problem, such as mobo, CPU, RAM...

Could it be something BESIDES computer being too slow? I am going 720x480 (720x540 same results).

ps: Does anyone have a guide on VideoStudio DV capturing?

Can you tell us if you are using Video Studio 6 or 7, and if you are using version 6, are you dropping any frames?
    Hello.

I see. Did you close all programs not being used, like the ones in the lower right corner of your desktop? Also , there is a way to display dropped frames in VS7. I will try and find the procedure.

Here it is, courtesy of Zetti:

    Please follow the steps below:
    1. Locate HerCap.ini file in the C:\Documents and Settings\All
    Users\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\7.0
    2. Open HerCap.ini file and add "ShowFrameNumber=1" below [CAPTURE_SETTING]
    section.

    EXAMPLE :

    [CAPTURE_SETTING]
    ShowFrameNumber=1

    3. Close and Save the ini file.
    4. Launch VideoStudio 7 and go to Capture stage, you will see the drop frame
    counter.

Note: 1024x768 display area will make the drop-frame counter not show very
well on the Option Panel; however, you still can see it. The drop-frame
counter will be showed completely when the display area is changed to
    1280x1024.

    Have fun,

  6. Hi,

I am trying to do the above, however, I cannot find the HerCap.ini file. In fact, I searched every drive for it, and it does not exist on my entire system. Actually, neither does .../Documens and Settings/Application Data/.... I am running XP SP1.

I have the Full retail (online purchase) version of VS 7. I also ran the patch too. So File->About shows 7.01.xxx.

I also installed the bonus components. Funny, after that, File->About shows VS 1.

Any ideas? I wrote to Ulead, but no reply yet.

    Thanks!

  9. UG! I figured it out. .../Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data/... is a hidden folder. Whn you do a search with XP, it doesn't search hidden folders.

I got into the right dir, added the text to the ini file and whamo, it worked (also enabled AC3 while I was at it). COOL!
