  1. Hi
    To all DVD-Burner users,

I am going to buy a dvd writer. I serched DVDhelp.com and found this:

    1. Pioneer DVR-A06/106D

I visited every computer shop in my country and was unable to find this product. Although , at last I found out LG GSA-4040B .But it costs $ 555 . Therefore I gave up The idea and decided to buy it on-line . I never bought anything over internet and no experience at all.
I hope you should answer these stupid questions:

1.What is the best reliable place I should choose , over internet to buy
    Pioneer DVR-A06/106D
2.What is the procedure for buy –online?
3.How many days it takes for shipping ?
    4.Which software’s included with Pioneer DVR-A06/106D ?

  2. $500! I bought a lot of stuff off Newegg.com The stuff arrived at my door in 4 days routinely. I just used my credit card. The software will depend on whether it is an OEM version or not. I think the 106 is OEM but I may be wrong.

  3. Ive only ever bought DVD writers online. Its never really occured to me to look in a shop.

    Ive bought a 104/105 and 106 all online..The 106 cost me £99.00

Ive no idea about US sites but there must be lots of them, buying online is easy, I assume you have a credit card, remember to keep your receipt/invoice in case anything goes wrong.

Welcome to the world of on-line shopping !

When I lived in the U.S. I bought most often from Outpost.com and Amazon.com. No one can say which is "best".

All your other questions will be completely dependent on which online source you buy from.

If you do a search engine search - any of them - for the model you want often they'll return sites that have price comparisons, reviews, etc. You can then see prices and "store" (vendor) policies listed all in one place.
    There's no place like 127.0.0.1

  7. That could make a difference! I don't know if Newegg ships there

I like newegg.com (in the USA) I live in the middle (USA) and always get everything in 3 days when I order. Never had any problems here.
I ordered very late last friday, new hardrive and other stuff, shipping number for fedex shows I should have it tomorow (thurs). It was shipped Monday and considering when I placed the order I consider that good.

Only once did I ever have a dead item, and it might even been my fault, but they exchanged with an RMA with no problem and I even got a better newer one as replacenent. Course I did have to pay the shipping to send the dead item back to them.

Anyway if they ship to you I recomend them based on my experience with many orders from them.
Thier prices are good and shipping is free on those drives you mentioned, but that's normally shipped in USA, Nepal may be different

I would also check a web site like http://www.mysimon.com

It compares a list of all online stores to give the lowest price at the moment you search. You will find there can be a great difference in the price from one place to another.

  12. nearest to nepal might be either india or china, but your shipping will be expensive as you live in a remote country. Also watch out for import taxes and duties that may be payable by YOU on receipt of goods.

Another option is EBAY. Lots of sellers and re-sellers will be willing to ship overseas from the USA/Europe/Pacific rim/Australia. Credit card is definately a good thing to have and of course there is paypal, western union too. Check www.usps.com and do a cost search for shipping from a state in the usa to Nepal, You need the weight of the burner, but that shouldnt be a problem. You can get a good idea of how much it will cost to mail from the USA to Nepal.
Of course you can always see who's coming over ur way to climb Everest and have them bring u one too.

I would never accept Nepal payments unless it was a money order or cash, and it cleared first. Too much credit, wire and Paypal fraud from non-USA locations. Most sellers on eBay are the same.

$555? I hope that's Nepal dollars, cause it sure isnt US dollars. It's $300 most expensive, about $150 at cheapest.

Send me cash or money order, and I have no problems helping you out. I've done thing like this before. Got to help other people when you can. Best I can do for you.

If that is all it would cost me, plus airfare and my own supplies.... I'm there. However I know permits are expensive, cheaper on the China side. In fact I would just plain like to visit and spend some time on the mountains that do not require a permit.

Only help I can offer is this... You might want to see what the middle eastern countries can offer for prices and shipping. Maybe Sefy can help you out with some online retailers. Wish I could help more, good luck
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

  21. Well, since my name was mentioned, i'm aiming on the Lite-On LDW since it costs 128$ (including shipping!) and has ALL the features you might want in a DVD Writer (DVD+ and DVD-) and also a great CD Burner (40x24x40!) and they are coming out soon with a 8x DVD Burner next month!

I'm sorry, but I cannot provide any information about shipping to Nepal. For anyone in the states, I thought I might share this recent experience. I ordered the Pioneer 106D from AccuPC for $129 delivered. I choose AccuPC as they were the lowest price on PriceWatch that had a good ResellerRatings. I ordered online last Sunday, and the drive was delivered today, Thursday, 4 days elapsed time. The drive came bare, no software, as expected. I installed it, and immediately flashed it with the latest hacked firmware. I have burnt about 8 disks this evening, all successful. I had a spindle of Princo white-top 4x DVD-R, which would never work above 2x in my other drives, and they burn like a champ at 4x in this Pioneer, and play back with no problems. I presently have a Sony DRU500A (purchased Nov, 2002, and have burned about 200 disks with this drive). I also own a Liteon LDW-400D, a Nec ND1000A (flashed to ND1100A), and used to own a Optorite DD0203.

If you are going to burn DVD+R disks, any of the above drives is okay. If you want to burn DVD-R at 4x, forget about all the rest and buy yourself a Pioneer 106. I recently sold the Optorite, and used that money towards the Pioneer. I am now going to sell the Sony, as this Pioneer has made the Sony obsolete. Don't get me wrong, I like the Sony, I have backed up a lot of movies with it. And if you buy the high-quality DVD+R disks on sale, you will never go wrong with the Sony.
