Doesn't say if it's a reader or a writer. The description is kinda lacking "You know what it does"

Truely odd. If someone buys this for me though I'll let you know what it does.

Well seeing how there is a blank BluRay disc on it I guess its a settop recorder... but then where would you buy new media once you used up your one disc? lol.

    Here is a review:

whatever it is i wouldnt buy something for that much money off ebay, too many scams going on with hijacked accounts and such. but even so, the seller of this item has 13 negatives in their feedback and 5 neutrals, so a BIG no no!

If you read the neagatives, most of the 13 are not registered users, most are more than one buyer and one has retracted his comments.
Looks like a Japanese seller who simply struggles to communicate, or vice-cersa.
Sometimes you have to dig a little to determine who reliable someone is.
Personally with someone like this the only thing that puts me off is where the hell the thing is to be sold/shipped from.
Is this thing in London or Japan, and what the hell is it anyway?

a blu-ray dvd recorder - blu-ray is AFAIK the 'next big thing', storing some ungodly amount of data on a recordable disc - 50Gb? something ridiculously large.

Even though it's kind of obvious that it is a blu-ray recorder, it still strikes me as odd that the seller gives no product descriptions/specifications, so that someone spending that much money will know exactly what it is and what it does.

No, neither would I, I was just trying to point out that with ebay; things aren't always what they seem
