O.K. I've been using this for about two weeks now, churning out dozens of 1 minute demo's for (X)VCD from my Hi-8 camcorder. I'm set for coasters now I've been capturing with the moviemaker software it
came with and using Tmpgenc 2.00 and Nero 5.551 for the VCD output.
My goal is to create the best quality (X)VCD that will play properly on a panasonic RV-31. (I know it doesn't do SVCD's) My player works O.K. up to 2.5Mb/s 224K.
I can capture MPEG1 up to 2.00 Mb/s (352x240)
224K audio and MPEG2 up to 6.00Mb/s (352x480) 224K audio.

First question: Since my goal is (X)VCD, will going to the MPEG2 higher bitrates produce better quality in the end? i.e. should I be capturing everything at 6.00Mb/s? Or will 2.5Mb/s up front yield me as good an end result?
Secondly, what resolution should I use in the conversion? Leave it 352x480?
Anyone else using this product with (X)VCD end results at 2.5Mb/s?
