well that's an swf to an avi ,what i meant was interactive menus with links to pop up bio of artists or trivia about charecters or whatever like the look of the official nbc friends webstie for instance

Once you have the AVI, use it as the menu element (button, background, transition, etc.) in your authoring program or convert it to MPEG if your program does not accept AVI.

yea but what if 1 click on whatever link should trigger a movie to play or a picture to wiggle or a menu to scroll down or up?
that's not applicable in an avi file converted thats' more like the moving scene selection menu -
That's where your authoring app comes in. If you have different things going on (transitions, links, etc.), you prepare it all in your authoring package. This will also mean cutting your AVI into several pieces for the different elements.
To my knowledge, there is no one program that will convert a flash file directly to DVD menu structure. -

That is EXACTLY what I've been looking to do....
I have some GREAT flash pages that would be GREAT menus....
Please keep me posted if you find anything.
Thanks,

it will take a lot of work - you need to research what your authoring software can do in the way of forced actions.
for example, let's say I have a menu with 3 buttons and two video stills. one button is "play all", one button is "play video #1" the last button is "play video #2" .
I want a video clip to play in place of the still when someone selects either "play video #1" or "play video #2".
I set my first menu up with force actions on the buttons for #1 and #2, so when you go to highlight those buttons, you are actually pressing them.
highlighting (pressing) button for video #1 takes you to a motion menu that looks the same, but the video still is replaced by a video clip.
highlighting the button for #2 does the same thing, a separate motion menu where video clip #2 takes the place of the video still.
so having a menu where things pop up, slide out, etc. when you select something is a bit more involved than transferring a single file from Flash.
unless you want to play it only on a computer, then you could just put a Flash gui in front of the video files...- housepig

housepig,
That sounds like what I want to do. Do you have a list of S/W that will do this & the steps (A How To for Dummies) I could follow?
