  1. Just wondering. The picture is our family dog, Bracken. She's seven months old, and is a Springer Spaniel. She never gets tired (which is fun, because I do!) and she's always pleased to see me. Sadly that's not too often as I am away at university for weeks on end. I miss her. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of our other dog, Bramble, who we lost on Tuesday. She was 14 years old.

This is a quick snap of Bracken wondering what the camera is on Christmas Day:

    I vote for dogs, obviously!

Anyone else got any weird , wonderful or old faithful pets?

  6. I have four cats. I previously had two dogs. I love both species equally, but we don't have a fenced yard right now and a dog deserves better than being tied to chain, IMHO.

First the fence, then the Schnauzers, and maybe my brother's Blue Heeler. For now, a Tabby, two black cats and the Grey Monster.

Pictures to be uploaded tonight. This father is not ashamed to upload his family photos!

sadly, we just put to sleep our 8 year old Saint Bernard - Sacha Imo, on December 30th. She's had 2 surgeries for lump removals last year, and in October was diagnosed with cancer in one of her front legs. It was already in the bone by the time she showed any effects of it and by that time, there were very little, if any solutions for it..... I miss her badly.....

We do have a 12 year old Austrailian Cattle Dog / mix who is pretty depressed right now without her buddy.... We took her down to meet a couple of new friends at the local humane society this week and found a 2 year old black lab that will be coming home with us next week after a visit to the vet. So she seems a little more on the pirky side now.... a new friend.

  8. shoozleboy,

I know how you feel just now. It's not a nice thing to do, but your dog depends on you to make the right choice. I'm sure you did what was best and kindest.

Bramble had cancer in her mammary glands and it had spread quickly. She also got arthritis in her back legs. It all came on very suddenly, but I suppose that's a good thing. I don't think it's going to sink in properly until I go back home and she'll be missing, which is one bad thing about living at uni.

But still, the years you have your dog are priceless. I'm looking forward to having one of my own when I eventually get my own house and a job.

  11. I like dogs, cant stand cats and would not have either as a pet. To much work and mess. The kids have a Chinchilla called Nibbles.

  12. Two cats, Sox and Sam, each about 11 years old now so they are senior citizens in the cat world.

If I can find my digital camera I'll post some pics.

Two Jack Russels (Oscar and Suzie) - both about 5 years old. I don't dislike cats (have had many over my life) but wife is allergic...

  25. I have 2 cats and 2 dogs and enjoy them both the same. The two cats are brothers from the same mother which is cool. One dog is an australian shepard/chow mix and the other is a pure bread St. Bernard. Over 210lbs or fun and drool.
