is there anywhere where i can get good pics of dvd covers for the front and back. i usually go to mega-search, but there are some covers i can't get. so i just have to settle for a seperate front/back picture as a cover.

First of all I don;t know if this is the right forum for this but here it goes anyway...
1. How big are DVD covers supposed to be.. I used the size 185x275 mm and it looked like th ewidth was too small
2. I used PS7 to resize the pciture and I use cover xp to print...but the cover looks blurry.. I downloaded Van Wilder from cdcovers.cc the orignial size was 1200x800 i resized it to the 185x275 mm and i printed it and it came out kind of blurry.... Does the resoultion have anythin gto do with it....should i set the resoultion higer or lower to get a better quality picture...
Someone plz help -

DVDcoverart's dimensions are not wrong, they are taken from actual DVD covers. Break out a ruler and measure one of your covers, not a scan, and it should be the same as what they use.
You easily could have cropped too much or too little off your image or if your image wasn't perfectly straight then when you cropped you decreased the dimensions of your cover. Also the actual resolution you get seems to vary slightly from scanner to scanner. On my scanner if I scan a 5 x 7 picture it always comes out smaller by about an 1/16th of an inch on both sides. Thus I always have to ensure that I resize my scans to the resolution that I want my OUTPUT to be. Just because you scan something and print it out doesn't mean its going to have the exact same dimensions as the source.
sk1pmcgee DVDCoverart has very good faq's which answer most of your questions. Most printers cannot print to the very edge of the paper. It basically has to do with the feeders which push the paper through. So a regular 8.5 x 11" piece of paper often will not be entirely utilized even though the cover itself will fit on it. The work around, as the faqs suggest, is to tape a strip of paper to the top of your paper. This gives the feeders something extra to grab onto.
I use Photoshop to print my covers. I have made a template in it to match the dimensions of the precut paper I use. I just import the covers from DVDcoverart into photoshop and print with the template, and it comes out perfect everytime. It prints exactly to the edge of the perforation and no further. -
Most scanned covers are too small. If you look at your average dvd in an amaray style case they are usually like 1/4 inch short on both sides. The proper size to completely fill most cases edge to edge is 3240 x 2175.
This looks much better than your store bought dvd.
Check out my site for other high quality covers and stuff. We also have templates and cover sizes, faqs, how tos, etc...

A lot of it depends on your cases too - I have had a few where the bonding of the case itself and the transparent cover have been done with such vigor that the dimensions width ways have decreased by several milimeters from the "norm".
Likewise, some are bonded practically at the molecular level and that size cover fits like a charm - until the bonding gives way and the clear cover splits or tears, then it all goes a bit pear shaped... -

Do a search for the movie you want then click on the small front cover picture to bring up a full size picture. Also from there you can click on the "back" button for a nice high quality shot of the back cover and it's free. -
I usually use 122x121mm for the lid, and 151x118.5 for the base, IIRC - it's been a while...

121 x 121mm for the front, 150 (137.5 face + 6.25 x 2 Spines) x 119 for the back for standard CD cases.
For double CD cases I use 122 x 121 front, 151 (137.5 face + 6.5 x 2 spines) x 119 for the back
