Hi,
Thinking of making the plunge and testing out Windows XP. My question is, since it is not offically on the retail market yet, what drivers do I use? Do I use Windows 2000 drivers?
A quick yes or no to this would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Hi
I wouldn't worry about getting drivers if I were you, I recently made the upgrade from Me to XP and its been my smartest move yet. Amazingly XP recognized all of my devices that when I would install a pre-XP OS would spend hours searching the internet for on another comp just to get it to work. To top it off I'm only using build 2481, which I believe is the last beta before the final, so it probably doesn't have everything that the final does have. I would definatly install XP if I were you -
XP definitely is kick. There are a few minor things like easy cd creator doesn't work exactly right, but nero works just fine. tmpgenc works great, divxcodec and etc works fine. I haven't run into anything really that doesn't work. And as stated, win xp pretty much has every hardware driver you could think of included. unless you are using something that is low end and off brand, you shouldn't have a problem.

I have a quick question, I recentlt deinstalled winxp because i was getting such slow sppeds from my cable modem. Has anyone else had this problem or know of what could possibly be causing it? thanks for any info you could give.

Hi,
Did the install and everything went great. Much better OS in my opinion, limited experience though. Only problem was that my soundcard is not yet supportted (Hercules Game Theatre XP), but it wont be long now.
Thanks for your help

I just got XP and everything went great, had a little problem with the ATI Wonder VE, but I think it was ATI's fault and not XP. XP never crashes. I think Microsoft has a winner suprisingly.

XP is killer. The biggest complaint I have is that it needs very frequent defragmentation

To whoever asked about the cable modem, I've also noticed some weird stuff. When I used to download stuff with my newsreader, I could still surf the net normally while stuff downloaded in the background, but now the download affects my entire system. It's almost like it throws everything into the download and leaves very little internet resources for other TCP/IP stuff...
Has anyone been able to change this behavior, or had similar issues?
