Hello all. I got a used Vidimate 200 delivered yesterday. First thing I had to do was replace the power cord because it had been cut off about an inch outside of the chasis. I did that using an old computer power cord. The issue is that when I tested my unit last night I noticed these diagional lines that roll left to right on the screen at a moderate rate. This only happens when I have the processing on and goes away when I bypass the processing functions. All the functions work, I just have that shadow type roll going on. I am going from LD -> Vidimate -> JVC DR-M10 -> TV. I did a test capture and it is present on the capture as well. Anyone else experience this or know what may be causing it? Thanks.

  3. You have a bad unit. If the power cord was cut off, obviously it could not have been tested by the person you got it from. See if they will let you return it for a refund and then look for another one.

Also got a JVC BR-S378U the other day and have had to use a cleaner a bunch of times to get the picture straightened out and I am still not sure it is right. Don't have much tinkering/testing time right now to see if it needs a full service. Oh well, just my luck it seems.

Thus is the problem when you buy used stuff. YOu have to use instinct and blind trust. I've gotten mostly lucky in this regard.

Upon closer internal inspection, it appears that a part was either never installed on the board or was taken out and not replaced. I am NOT component saavy so I have no idea if it is a transistor, capacitor, or what the part is that is missing. If anyone has one of these units and can take a look under the hood and let me know if they have this piece in their unit and what it looks like, it would be greatly appreciated. It is C19 on the board and it is located about 2 inches up and 1 inch right from the Stereo/Mono switch. I have two empty connector holes where something should be soldered there. I would like to replace this part if possible and see if I can get this unit to work. Thanks in advance.

  9. Take a picture of the board on the top and bottom,I may be able to tell you if it can be fixed or what is missing.

Me, too... but I have wound up with some non-working POS's every now and then. Still, overall it is far less money than buying new, and sometimes you can score a really great bargain!

I don't see any burn marks like it was desoldered. I t may have been desoldered, but who ever did it did a good job not burning the area. I can see just a little bit of solder on the metal on the board next to the hole. The green around the holes is slightly raised, sort of like a blister that has been drained. As for a better picture, I don't know if I can get one, but I will try. My camera is rather poor, but I will do my best.

  14. Can you tell if a part may have been soldered in there (perhaps poorly) an maybe fell out? It is hard to say from the pictures.

I know there are a couple of others on the forum that have a Vidimate and might be willing open a working one up to see if that part is there... and what exactly it is.

I was hoping someone with a working unit would see this thread and take a look at the piece missing to see what it looks like in a working unit. I haven't a clue where it went if it was even in there to start with. Thanks for the help though to this point.
