I often hear people talk about running a something as a bootdisk. How do you do this and what is it used for?

But how do you run a CD-R as a bootdisk. Ive created a DivX disk usingm reality player and CDmage and it says on a tutorial that i read that it needs to be run as a bootdisk. So how do i do this?

You cant burn a boot disc for ps2, you can however use "exploit" and cogswap to boot games (without modding your ps2) check out www.ps2ownz.com forums for detailed info

the problem (unless they did change something) with the cdr or even
dvd-r bootdisc for a ps2 is that it's a cdr and dvd-r media. So in order for the ps2 to properly read it, you would still need your system chipped. the boot disc was a utility disc that shipped with Jap ps2's for a while, before they stopped doing that. So unless you can find an original or 3rd party one , the burned ones will still not work without a chip of somekind
