Samsung DVD P-230

Before going further in my learning in creating vcd or svcd, I want to be sure that my DVD player will play thoses vcd or svcd. If I understand well, it should be, but I burned a CD following all instruction I found here using TMPQenc and Nero burning 5.5 and my DVD player says that there is no disk when I put it in.
I think I burned it correctly because my cd has many files including the AVSEQ01.dat and I can read it on my computer using Media player.
So I would appreciate if one you can check the DVD Players compatibility
and tell me if I am right thinking my DVD player can read vcd and svcd. If yes then I will try to find what is going wrong with my burning.
