  1. I've had problems playing back my back-up copy of Lilo and Stitch. (see link to my origional thread https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=198482
i tried it on a neighbours multiregional dvd player and it works perfectly, i was thinking it was proberly the media i was using, but now i'm thinking is it because my stanalone is not multiregional like my neighbours (they've got a Bush player).

Or could it be that when i authoured the dvd in DVD Shrink i used the region free option? So when played back in a player that only plays region 2 the DVD won't play correctly cause it was authoured using region free?

    Has anybody got any ideas?

    Thanxs Claire xxx (newbie)

Looking at your description of the problem on the other thread, I notice that you have coloured streaks running through the picture. It could be, as you say, a problem with the lack of region coding, but I doubt it. The coloured streaks sound more like it is an NTSC disk being played on a PAL machine. Where did the original that you backed up come from? Was it a Region 2 PAL disk in the first place or could it be a Region 1 NTSC disk? I thought that ALL PAL DVD players would play back NTSC disks but maybe there is a setting on yours somewhere that you have to enable. I have heard that on some there is a menu item that is set at Auto by default but needs to be set to NTSC to get them to play properly. This would explain why you can play the backup on your pc and on your neighbours player but not yours.

Of course if the disk you backed up was a Region 2 PAL one, then you can ignore everything I've just written 'cuz it doesn't apply!

Hmm, I always reauthor to just keep the main movie in DVDShrink as region free but have never had any problems. Presumably you used the same settings as you have with other disks and this is the first one that has shown this problem. I can only suggest you try doing it again and see if it is just a bad burn or something.
