  2. That's like asking what's a good newsgroup. It depends on your interests. Be more specific. A good IRC channel for WHAT?

  3. I like Music Videos in (X)(S)VCD, TV Shows in (S)VCD or DivX and movies in DivX or VCD

  5. LOL, you have it all backward.

TV-rips are almost always VCD-quality, generally compressed with DivX, since very, very few of the l33t h4x0r cheeseballs who bother have the kind of equipment for serious real-time video capture, onto tape or PC.

Music videos are generally even worse, since l33t h4x0r cheeseballs don't care anymore, and you're dependent on the sKript Kiddies who watch MTV compulsively to rip it for you.

Movies are the only thing that come in at a decent quality, since people have them on VHS and DVD, and don't need real-time capture.

BTW, one must use the terms "quality" and "decent" rather loosely when describing anything you get off IRC, since noone has time to upload two or three cd's of information to you. Expect raped audio (96kbps mp3 instead of 128 or 192), raped video (low res is ok, but the horrible compression artifacts *flinch*). While I've seen DivX recordings that are flat amazing, most people don't bother. It's like the early days of MP3, when everyone figured 96 or 112 was enough.

Of course, it may never improve that much, since average joe on the street still truly believes that 128kbps mp3 is cd-quality, when the truth is more like 256, or at least VBR with a minimum bitrate of 192.

just use mIRC channel search ... third icon from the left ... and type in 'divx' ... and wait ...

you can search on every network you wish ... I preffer efnet ... but dalnet and ircnet are also great ... but you need a pretty fast connection for movies.

  8. I personally use the Direct Connect program, its great for finding almost anything you want. I have my own hub (hubs = something like a irc channel) For most of things you want. The Hub is called "The [G'z] HUB" or you can use my IP which is for now 67.167.107.133
Any questions you can email me at fl1pflop@hotmail.com
