Is it possible to burn a vcd onto dvdr. Not convert, but as an actual vcd. This would allow so much more video on one disc. Also, does anyone know of any dvd players which could play this type of disc?

Freakyalbino,
I found a relevant thread on the forums. There's a bit of confusion but the general view is that VCD on a DVD is supported. Here's the link to that thread:
https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=197101&highlight=author+vcd+dvd
Also, here's a guide that was linked to:
http://www.svcd2dvdmpg.com/SVCD2DVDMPG/Help/GettingStarted.aspx
That should get you started. I've never actually done this so I can't really tell you first-hand what to do.
Good luck!
