  1. or is it a software problem?

I recently have acquired a pioneer 106 burner and have been experimenting with it with mixed results. The primary purpose I bought it for was to copy all my VHS stuff onto DVD or SVCD and chuck out all the mouldy tapes.

I am using cheapish 4x DVD+R's TEAC media, with no failure rates yet (as in coasters)

A quick brief: I have a new telly 51cm TEAC, a new multistandard home LG DVD player connected to it via s-video cable.

The problem I have is that I can play OEM DVD's and backup copys of my own DVD's (Burnt on the Pioneer) on the PC and on the telly via the LG Player without any jitters, BUT when it comes to capturing and then burning my VHS stuff onto either DVD+R blanks and SVCD CD-R's, they play back PERFECTLY on my PC Monitor via the DVD or CD burner, but when played back thru the LG Home player, any fast movements and the picture gets the jitters badly.

    I use an GeCube 128 mb R9600 Pro VIVO, PC is P4 2.8c/512 DC/ 19" Hyundai Q910 monitor 85Hz RR at 1280x960/Win XP Pro.

Have tried capturing the VHS Composite output (No s-video out on VCR) with Power Director 2.55 and Ulead Movie studio, but the same results appear on the telly, whether its an burned SVCD playing back or a Burned DVD playing back.

All sound syncs OK. Is there some settings in the capture software I am missing? Have had a look at the DVD help forums, but found nothing that will correct this problem as yet.

Edit: Forgot to mention its a new mono VCR, and the tapes in question play back perfectly on the Telly (from the VCR) and thru the preview window of the capture software

Thanks for any help, Cheers Chris

  2. might try playing those burned disks on a cuppla other set top players, if you can.

would help pinpoint player or disk/burn as prob source.
