  1. Hi,

I am using DVD Author to author my video, DVD Shrink to size it, and ImgBurn to burn it to DVD-R. Everything is working great, except on the last couple of videos, the movie starts chopping up and freezing toward the end of the movie. Everything is OK during most of the movie. Note: It plays fine through the PC, and my son's DVD player! Only on my standalone RCA player have we seen this problem. Would it still be a limitation of my player (a few years old)? Or, would it be a problem with the DVD? I suspect the player, but I don't want to author a bunch of movies only to get an unpleasant surprise later.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

    Thanks in advance!

Almost certainly player/media compatibility. Try a different brand media or ensure you don't fill the disk right to the end. i.e keep it all less than say 4Gb to avoid using the unreliable end of the disk.

  3. Good suggestion. I have some different media. I think I'll try one and see if it makes a difference.

But, you also mentioned the end of the disk? It so happens that the last couple of movies required a bit more compression from DVDShrink to get them to fit (I let it pick the compression) because they were a bit longer. Is the end of the media (which is the outside if I recall) less reliable than the center?

    Thanks!

From my own, and others, experience that certainly seems to be the case.

  5. Yep, it's the media - I ran into the same thing with OPTODISC - bought 30 of them and almost every disc does that - Very frustrating.
Switched to FUJIFILM 4X DVD-R and Ritek G04 (4X), no problem at all.

  7. a lot of people reported that after 4gig, cheaper media glitch up due to the dye.

I have always used cheap media and as a precaution, I set dvdshrink to 4100 for shrinking and have never had a problem.
