Convertng downloaded movies to VCD *URGENT HELP*

How do you convert a movie that has been downloaded from a programme such as Kazaa to a VCD?? These are the following info on the movie:

FILE NAME: FREDDY.AVI

AUDIO FORMAT: MPEG Layer-3,40 kBit/s, 24,000 Hz, Stereo

VIDEO FORMAT: 352 x 288, 58206 Frames, 20.000 Frames/Sec, 55 KB/Sec, Unknown Format

I have tried using the guides that tell you how to convert .AVI files to VCD but a message keeps coming up that says the audio and file are unsupported.

Can someone please tell me how i can fix this and how to turn the file to a VCD. Can u please tell me what programmes to use and exactly how to do it thank you .

Sounds like you have a Divx file.
Read the guides on chaning to VCD from divx.

I had the same problem when using TMPGe 2.0. So I used 12a but this made the sound become out of sync when converting.

What you need to do is go to the tools page and download Kristal Studio Drivers, under codecs.

Install those and try again, it should work this time, it did for me.

TMPG does a good job, but the audio/video is almost never synced. Also, it can't read MP3 audio.

Use V-dub to pull the mp3(save wav) out of the divx avi. Make sure you change the filename to .mp3 or something, since v-dub doesn't write a wav header to the file. Then use winamp to convert it to raw audio (a "real" wav)

And you really need 24fps in order to see smooth motion. Add that to the problems Divx normally has with motion... eww. Better use maximum motion search precision

you have to set the audio to full processing mode first.. then when you save the wav you get a raw 'real' wav - save yourself a step

TMPEnc can use take audio right from the divx file. There is no reason to convert. You simply go to options/enviromental settings/VFAPI plug in - and raise the priority of the Direct Show Multimedia File Reader. Audio stays in sync. Works for me every time.

What w00kie says is dead right about using Vdub in full processing mode. It only takes a few mins to create the wav file in Vdub, and greatly decreases the subsequent encoding time in TMPGenc.

When you say it decreases the subsequent encoding time, do you mean using the divX file as a video source, adnt he wave file as an audio source? if so, how would that be any faster/

Normally once you extract the audio you encode it to a MP2 file w/ tooLame, then encode the DivX video to MPV w/ TMPGenc. Then mux w/ either TMPGenc or bbMPEG.

and that turns out to be faster? cant you encode the wave to MP3? ive muxed an M1V file and an MP3 file before. Also i hear that TMPGEnc has problem Muxing Mpeg-2 streams. i suppose i have to use BBmpeg to do so?
