    I just got this DVD ROM player but sometimes it picks up the dvd and then again sometimes it dosent...If it doesnt i have to reboot and normally picks it up???

    any ideas?

    I have about 6 of those units, have fitted at least 14 (8161b's) to PC's the last 6 months and they are very good units. Superb build quality.
    Are your cables in good condition ?
    Jumpered correctly ?
    not impossible that the unit is faulty..... after all I had a dud Plextor the other day.
    Can't you try it in another pc ?
    What operating system are you using ?

    I have moved the DVDROM off to another IDE channle its the master on IDE 2 and nothing else is installed with a new ide cable. Now I still need to reboot so the dvd plays ( can explore dvd w/o rebooting ) It has Firmware 0015 ATM. Im running windows XP PRO SP - 1 all patched up with the latest and the greatest.
