How can I open .mp4 files with Virtual Dub?

Hi how can I open my .mp4 encoded files with Virtual Dub? The mp4 codec is installed fine since i can play .mp4 files in windows mediaplayer but for some reason won't open with Virtual Dub. Plz help thanks.

mp4 is a container, there is no mp4 codec. There are however MPEG4 video codecs and aac audio codecs.

VirtualDub uses VfW and not directshow, it therefor can't make use of the filter that wmp uses.

No way to directly open an mp4 file with VDub, you would need to frameserve or demux to avi.
