  1. As I wasn't online yesterday, I'd like to wish everyone a happy Boxing day instead! Just another day before the shops open for the New Year sales.

What is Boxing Day exactly? I've only heard of it once or twice.

  3. No idea what the history behind Boxing Day, for Australians though it's a public holiday that signals the start of sales, the Sydney to Hobart yacht race and the Boxing Day cricket match.

Also a good day of relaxation after Christmas day.

There is no Boxing Day here in the USA. The day after Christmas isn't a holiday.

That's a bitch! Still in Christmas holiday spirit here. A lot of factories are closed until Monday 5th January. But I am back to work on Tuesday.

Boxing day as a holiday in Canada, 26th December of each year.

It is a holiday in Britain, Australia and New Zealand.

Sorry fellas, not in the USA.

  9. Sounds like it has something to do with the British Empire or Commonwealth.

Now if only America hadn't buggered off 200 years ago and became an independant state, they would have had a Boxing Day too!!

Here's an explanation of the holiday that makes it somewhat clearer:

I've seen it on our US calenders, but never knew what it was about.
Sorry, my url setting doesn't seem to be working

  11. Fixed your post. You had a backslash on both your url tags, you only need it on the second one. In fact you dont need to include the tags at all just post the url. The only reason to use tags would be to create a link within some text.

Boxing Day inthe US is 26 December. It's the day we pack all those god-awful gifts back in the box and stand in line 4 hours to return them.

Also, the checkout lines, as you all have heard from the woman who was trampled (although they said she was actually a "taxi dancer" ) by pipple trying to save 3 bucks on a DVD player.

    Cheers,

    George
