  1. hello, I"ve read a lot on this site about dvd labeling and the freezing and pixelation problems people are having. I"m having this problem, however, it"s when i play it on other machines. I recorded some home movies from vhs to my panny and finalized the disc and it plays fine in the panny and also in my denon player however, when i took it to my sisters to play on her panny player (not recorder) it froze, pixelation, and just plain stopping. I recorded on fuji discs in the sp mode and not sure what"s wrong. any info would be greatly appreciated. thanx.

First check the compatibility list here for your sister's player. Maybe you just need to use a different type of media.

  3. thanx for your reply to my inquiry. I just purchased some memorex discs and i"ll try those. I thought it strange that the very first other player i tried had trouble however, it does play the disc but just has a lot of pixelation and freezing. what discs have you found to be most compatible? I figured i would be safe using any dvd-r,but, apparently not. I guess i"ll have to do some more experimenting. thanx.

  4. If using very good media dosen't help, some older DVD players are just junky at playing DVDRs and RWs. Some of those early generation players would do exactly what you described. Luckily most any new player (and they are often under $99 or $75 or $50 these days)will run the DVDRs and RWs really well. If your sister has been having problems watching other DVDs or even just the one you made, it might be worthwhile for them to get a brand new DVD player. Luckily buying a DVD player these days is not so heavy on the wallet.

  5. the problem i cant understand is that it plays movies from the video store just fine. I assume its because mine is burned on a consumer recorder. their dvd player isn"t really that old, 3 years old or so. i dont have the model # handy to check compatibility but i"ll check tomorrow to see. I"m still very pleased with the quality of the recordings i just wished that the dvd powers that be would agree to a format that is compatible with ALL players. this is pretty discouraging since i just pumped out a good penny for a recorder where the media doesn"t work on the first player i try it on. I don"t need any more coasters, if you know what i mean. i"m going to try that disc on some other players and see what happens. I"ve got a lot of boxing to put on dvd so i hope i can figure something out. later, and thanx.
