  1. I used my JVC 30K to capture some stuff off of cable tv. (independent film network stuff, not available to buy.) I captured 13 hours straight using 544x480 3800kbps (it's ls3 mode for dvhs) (side note, i'll be posting a guide about using the 30k as a mpeg2 realtime encoder.) Now no matter what I open this file with, Windows media player, MPEG2VCR. (haven't tried vdub cause it's still Transport stream not PS.) It displays a total play time of 3 hours 37 minutes(or something like that). but all of the video is there.

This causes a problem because I want to split it into easier to manage 30 minute segments and I cannot do this easily now.

Anybody have any idea what could be causing this?

I am currently remuxing this into a Program Stream. Hopefully this might clear things up. But even XMuxer is showing a total time of only 13027 seconds. (that's 3 horus 37 minutes some odd seconds)

Also completely off topic. I know lordsmurf was interested in using the 30k as a on the fly mpeg encoder for vhs tapes. I basically think I have it figured out. Basically on the fly mpeg encoding only works with a DVHS tape loaded. And I am experimently with drilling holes in an old VHS tape to make the vcr think it's a DVHS. Hopefully this will work. (probably not, but it's worth a shot considering I have a day off work finally.)

  2. Ok.. Works in MPEG2 VCR after converting to Program Stream.

Now I can cut it up easily.
