My system is: Duron 700Mhz processor, 160 Mb ram, 20 Gig HD, Win98SE, SiS6326 video card.
I am new to capturing but I've done quite a bit of avi and mpg to vcd.
I got an AverTV card really cheap with Aver software. It is installed ok, works fine as a TV tuner and captures individual frames as images and plays them back ok.
The problem starts when I hit the record button on the VCR section. I get a nice grey box saying 'Cannot Record'. That's it, no explanation, no clues, no help. AverTV tech support was ok to a point in that they replied to almost all of my e-mails. They took my DXdiag system details and suggested different drivers, and / or upgraded software. Tried everything they suggested but still no joy. I have read that AverTV doesn't like SiS chipsets so I tried an ATI card with the same result, no recording. (Thinks......If the SiS card is incompatible why does the TV tuner part work?)
A friend suggested that the fault could be linked to the bios video shadow setting whatever that does or the particular pci slot being used although no conflicts are reported. Can anyone help before I spend real cash on real equipment.
PS... AverTV tech support are ignoring me now.....thanks guys!!!![]()
