  1. I have a about 2 GBs of free space on my hard drive. Is this sufficient to back up DVDs using DVD Shrink? Would the free hard drive space matter between a DVD-5 or a DVD-9 source DVD?

Since almost NO commercial DVD flicks are that small, you might invest in another HD.

Most DVD movies I've seen, by themselves, are anywhere from 4gb to 7gb. Then, if u plan to copy entire discs with menus, extras and all, you are looking at 5gb to 9gb.

Therefore, 2gig just ain't gonna do it. Pick yerself up a 40 gig HD at the local office/computer supply and add it to your system as a slave. You can get those nowadays on sale for around $50 USD.

You will have major issues with cache and fragmentation with that little space. You can forget anything DVD related until you have 10 GB minimum free. Some programs will need almost 20 GB for temp files and final product.

You can pickup a 40 GB drive for around $50 US after rebates in teh states. 120 GB are under $100.
