Ok, I don't do much capturing, but if I capture say from TV, and I want to make a DVD someday to watch on a TV, do I deinterlace when reencoding or not? I read somewhere that if I plan to watch it on my TV then I should leave the interlace alone but if I watch it on my PC then I use the deinterlace. So is this true? All this time I have been encoding with the deinterlace on to watch it on my tv.

if you only plan on watching your movies on tv then encode interlaced. if you want to be able to watch on your pc then deinterlace. encoding interlaced to watch on tv gives a much sharper picture than de interlaced. lordsmurf has good info on interlacing on his web page www.lordsmurf.com.

That's actually not true either. Playback software with active playback deinterlace will still yield better results than deinterlacing the source.

Deinterlace is pretty much only good for streaming video (WMV, QT, REAL, etc).

That's outlined in the myth/FAQ area at the bottom of the deinterlace info on lordsmurf.com

What software has this? Im using BS player. Well just started using it but it does not seem to have option or I have not turned it on. Another question if your making a Xvid or Divx does deinterlacing lower the file size or not?
