  2. They are pretty expensive as well as the thermal ribbons. Full coverage is not available on most.. so they only do text per say. If you want one that does full coverage and color etc.. there up in the thousands of dollars for the machine alone.

The quality is good, but marginaly better then ink jet and they have thermal printable discs.

I've owned a Primera Inscripta, which prints a full disc and can be had on ebay as a refurb for about $1200. I currently own a Casio CW-50, which can only print about a 1/3 of the disc at a time. The casio can be found for under $100 and their ribbons for about $5.

The Casio will print on anything the Inscripta did, which is most unbranded media. However, I often use branded media, if the disc leaves me a portion that has a consistent finish.

I use the Casio to print simple text; but I have seen examples were people have used the Casio to print some good graphics. If you do a search in these forums you should see examples.

  4. I have the TDK verson of this printer. It is excellent for text and logos but of little use for graphics (think newspaper images). However it is very cheap and will print on anything (other than some printable discs - oddly enough!) and the result is permanent (unlike the Epsons).

Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?
