    Hi can anyone tell me is it possible to burn a film on to a dvd as you do with a cd-r to make a vcd with just a cd writer and no dvd rom as i would like a better quality of film on a dvd and all on one disc.

    No this isn't possible with a CD writer
    You'll need to buy a DVD writer and the blank dvds are very expensive compared to cd-r. my opinion is its just better to make (x)(s)vcds for now.
