just capped all 3:12:44 worth off digital cable. I'm going to put on DVD-R, my question is one of opinion. At that length of time to fit on 1 DVD I'll need a max bitrate of 2.700 mbps. But at 704,480 res not sure it will look to good. Have gotten longer periods of time on one disk before but I used 352,480 to acheive better looking results.
So the question is in peoples opinion is it better to go for higher bit rates at full res and split to 2 disks or use the lower bitrate at full res to fit on one disk, being that it will look "ok"
Thanks for all your opinions

You could encode about two minutes at each frame rate and see how they each turn out.

I would choose 352x480 use a CQ and overshoot your mark. Then transcode (think that's the word i'm looking for) with DVDShrink. As far as my eyes can tell that is the best bang for the buck when it comes to long movies. Go with 2 dvd's if quality is of key importance, or you have a good tv with SVideo in.

I went the 2 DVD-R route, Quality wise well worth it.
I guess I might need to find 2 sided disks because tonite is Lord of The Rings: Two Towers 2:50:00. Are all the great epics on at the end of the year?? (LOL)
