  1. I have a cd writer, dvd writer, and two hard drives. What is the easiest way to add a dvd player?

A USB 2.0 IDE or firewire box would be one solution. Also a seperate intelligent IDE controller should hook in to less normal ports and give you more than the normal 4 total. Of course there's also SCSI and several other possible formats, but all the same basic idea.

I'd personally hunt down the extra IDE controller just to keep things simple. Shouldn't be too much money these days..

  3. Take out the CD-Writer and give it to someone. Your DVD burner will burn CD-Rs & CD-RWs. Besides, they need it.

    Good luck.

  5. The problem is that my dvd writer takes too long to back up dvds.

  6. Cheap as DVD burners are these days, just upgrade it for a faster ripping drive. Probably be cheaper in the long run.

  7. My Vote would go to the add in IDE controller.

  8. I just got my burner. It is a Pioneer 106d. It rips dvds so much slower than my old dvd drive.
