The best in my opinion is Taiyo-Yuden 4x DVD-R discs.

About $2.50 each + tax in a store (the FUJI packs labeled MADE IN JAPAN) or buy it direct from RIMA.COM at $1.68 each + shipping.

    If in doubt, Google it.

I found some of those Fuji 4x -R packs at the local Walmart. $19.95 for 10 with cases. Made in Japan, so I'm pretty sure they are Taiyo Yuden. Haven't bought any yet---but will post back sometime soon.
Couldn't believe they actually had some good disks.

Damn I might have to try a Wal-Mart near me since I've been paying $24.99 at BEST BUY for those.

Course you could do worse. I was at a CompUSA about a week or so ago and they wanted $29.99 for the same FUJI 10-pack.

Last time I was at a WAL-MART they were selling the 10-pack MAXELL discs for $23.99 which is a good price and they are just as good as the Taiyo-Yuden's but only 2x speed so yeah right now that $19.95 is sounding VERY good to my ears

Best -R are the ones made/sold under Pioneer label (PVCR001002)...only prob is that they cost a lot and next to impossible to find anymore Maybe cause Pioneer is getting outa media business. Too bad.

  8. Those pioneer are way too expensive indeed.
They must be the best of the best, I guess.
Saw them last week and when I was told the price I asked if they were -RW

Don't know if they are getting out of media business but at such high price they will certainly deter people.
Kodak also used to be a top quality media maker. their silver+gold series are regarded as top quality CD-R's

I don't think there is. A year or so ago, I think Verbatim was the highest voted DVD in a poll on this site - six moths later the forum was filled with complaints about the disks subcontracted to CMC.

I haven't heard a bad word said about TDK though.

On every writer? No there isn't. Try authoring media instead.

Look at the left column of every page page for: dvd media, you can read thousands of opinions on media.

The best media is 4X Taiyo-Yuden or 4X Pioneer.

Of course, they are among the most expensive too.

I lied, I lied----saw those Fuji 4x dvd -R's at another store and remembered the price from the Maxell's I saw at Walmart. The 2x Maxell's were $19.97 per 10 pack at Walmart, I checked today.

    Sorry for the misinformation.

Well like I said in that other thread if you can live with 2x speed instead of 4x speed the MAXELL discs are every bit as good as the 4x Taiyo-Yuden discs.

I might have to buy some packs next time I'm at a WAL-MART.

I have started to buy TDK 2X exclusively at Best Buy for $169 per 100 spindle. They are nicely coated, have a rich purple dye (my experience has been bad with the paler ones)

They are sturdy, they don't flex as much as some others, and I have never had a coaster in over 500 burns since switching over from Ritek (I made the switch when the Riteks went up to the same price as the TDKs)

Ritek has gone back down again. I think that was a slow supply price increase. Not a bad idea actually.

  19. I use infiniti from http://www.medeainternational.com although i don't buy from them because they are expensive but i have a relation who owns a computer store(Mostly Cpu's,Ram,H/d,Media etc and they know somebody who works for the company and they get it a lot cheaper for him.

I have to honestly say that i think they are fantastic brand especially their cd-r's,However i haven't a clue if you live outside of the UK(Company is in Scotland but they supply stores in England,Wales & Ireland as well)If any of your local stores stock then then i would definitely try them.
