Yes, you already know, I have a Canopus ADVC-100

I'd like to output to TV before I burn to DVD, so to ensure my previous saturation problems (documented at length elsewhere) do not occur again and I don't waste a DVD-r.

I'm familiar with the ports on the unit itself, but I can't seem to make my 'capture' software (Pinnacle Studio 8.10) output the footage.

Does anyone know of a utility that will export the footage back to the Canopus, and ultimately back to my TV?

    Many thanks,
    Will Hay

I know Scenalyzer can but only the captured AVI file not your converted MPEG,
don't know of any way to do that.

No, that's cool, just what I want.
I have the trial of scen..., not really played with it too much, I can live with the brief logo flash for this.
    Thanks,
    Will

    I just tried.
I set scen... to output, I plugged the composites into the rear of the canopus and in the AV sockets of the TV (as well as the imput scart at the back) and pressed play in scen...
    nothing.

  5. I can't remember exactly what it is called, but in Studio 8 go to the make file area and choose "make tape". I think that preps Studio 8 to output to what it thinks is a DV camera, but in your case is actually the AVDC-100.

Why not burn your output to an RW disc? That would be a lot better test anyway.

In my experience, if you directly output an AVI file, or MPG for that matter, to your TV, it will always look different (i.e, much better) than the final burned DVD.

did you change the input select on the ADVC from analog to digital and set scenalyzer to "play selected clips to camera/vcr"?

  9. Actually the studio 8 I have found has a small bug when outputing to a DV source. Try this little fix, put a small 1 second DV clip in front of your project while in studio 8, then goto make movie, select tape and make sure it does not send the signals as if it were a dv recorder, and it should work. I have found this to work with my ADS Pyro AV Link. For some reason the Studio 8.10.4c does not create a proper DV AVI header or this is what I am to believe.

DVIO also has an OUT feature. Might just be the ticket you're looking for
    in a TINY app

    Although I've never used it...

It has a (Send video to camera) button.

But, beware, DVIO can output two formats, TYPE-1 and TYPE-2.
I would assume that TYPE-2 would be the one you use (but do try both)
(right-click caption and selet AVI format -> )

    Good luck,

  11. Hey Will...maybe I could help you on one(!)...anyway, studio make tape is the ticket...I do this w/ vegas and it works fine & think I did it once w/ studio as well...

    - don't forget to set your advc100 to digital input
    - if you have svideo cable out of advc100, make sure you don't also have a composite cable connected out (& the reverse, but I think that way matters less or not at all)
    - audio will not go out on the firewire
    - in the studio settings for make tape, uncheck where studio would control your device and make sure the DV dropdown shows your firewire card

    Works perfectly, thanks.
I hadn't been switching the ADVC to digital imput
I used scenlyser but I'm sure Pinnacle works the same.
    Thanks, and merry christmas!
    Will

EDIT: Yep, Pinnacle Studio works perfectly too

I'm sure you're right but I didn't appear to suffer this problem
