    Got a region 1 dvd to copy with Clone DVD and AnyDVD, but says cannot copy
    becuase it is protected etc. Not normally a problem with R2 dvd's. Is it
    because it is R1? (even though I have changed the region on drive).
    Any other software that might do it?

    try dvdshrink or dvd dycripter
