I'm sure this is really helpful - I don't really know. But what I can tell ya is that I switched from Nero to CopytoDVD yesterday, and except for one bad disc (which only occurred when I changed the burning speed) 9 of the 10 have been succesful. I've had problems like you seem to be having and I've read a TON on this forum and other forums about possible causes. What I'm doing, and what you will probably need to do to "fix" your problem is try multiple things and by process of elimination, you will ultimately find the so called cure. However, I don't think you'll ever get to the point where 100% of your discs are good, so the occasional bad copy shouldn't throw you - as I'm sure it doesn't
The possible causes for many people have been:
*Labels
*Burning speed (usually only a factor with cheap media)
*Burning software (a lot of people have had problems with Nero - although many others swear by the program)
*Media
*Encoding software (i.e. DVD Shrink's older versions)
*The DVD drive
So, I would try tweaking some of those things and see what you come up with. The one solid truth to this problem which IS consistent with everyone is INCONSISTENCY is the rule (if that makes any sense). The cause of one person's problems may very well be different than yours. Therefore there isn't a simple answer.
If you don't get a lot of response to your post, do a search because there is a TON written on this subject as a lot of people have had this problem, including me! -
would you rather me list the 100³ ways one could make a dvd? or perhaps I could have pointed them to the left hand column of their browser, or perhaps the sticky at the top of this forum?

Yes, that is what I would like you to do - so get crackin.
I just get annoyed on forums when people for whatever the reason feel inclined to respond to someones post but not offer ANY helpful information (like what you did). If you don't feel like responding and helping the person, that's fine and you obviously have every right not to help. But why respond with a comment that is not helpful at all? If you don't want to help, then just don't respond - bottom line.

I responded the way I did, by not giving a direct answer, because then it would only start the
"Nuh uh! My way is cooler than yours!"
"Whatever cootie pants!"
And nobody wants those. It's a subject that has been beaten to death, and that is why I felt like including my snyde comment.
and give me a few millenia to come up with that tutorial. -
Lurk abit
then read the guides
then use whatever method works for you -
I think pixelating towards the end is usually attributed to bad media. I recommend Ritek G04's since they are the bomb! Also, I think in another discussion we kinda nailed down also that sometimes, the movie getting weird at the end, was because people were writing data too close the edge of the disc. I use CloneDVD, and this program has built in safeguards, to protect it, not letting you write anything longer then 4.3GB, wheres' other programs don't have that limiter I think.
