most dvd's are dual layered man(except for dvdr's) thats why programs like dvdx copy express, dvd shrink, dvd2one are out there, to compress to a single layered dvdr.

as for your questions, its probably because of scratches on the disc. u might try reinstalling? not sure, haven't used that program before.

    hope this helps, josh

  3. best bet is to sand off the top layer containing the scratch, then recondition with some cheap furniture polish.. this will also help to clean the lens on your drive.. use something like 15 grade wet and dry and the fasteer you go the better it gets.

Sanding the DVD ? sounds like a good way to make it a coaster ! There are many products that can be used to clean DVDs - toothpaste has been suggested here before but apparently you are meant to rub it on and off from the outside in across the disc (as opposed to in a circular motion around the disc).

I would try a different DVD-ROM combined with different software such as Smartripper or DVD decrypter and then DVDShrink before doing anything that may harm the disc itself.

I read that DVDXCopy cannot accept files from your hard drive ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

  7. Hey guys, the DVD is clean. Not a scratch. So what about using DVD Decriptor or Smart Ripper? Can I use Decriptor and then transfer to DVD-R?

    Thanks,Vman5

I'll keep it short and sweet:

Use Smartripper or DVD Decrypter to rip the DVD to your hard drive.
    Use DVDShrink to shrink it.
    Burn baby burn !
    If in doubt, Google it.
