could be a media problem. The more it's burned(80%) the slower the drive should spin because it goes from inside to outside, so it should be louder at the beginning(most likely).

Could be that the media you're using is crappy and the Optorite is having problems focusing the laser.

  3. DonRenee,

I own three of these drives and run them in Windows 2000 Pro, and never had that set of symptoms!

Nero taking forever to write a lead-out? Been there, done that! I don't have any advice for you on that one, but I can tell you how I author DVDs and never have any problems doing it this way.

    1) I author the DVD in DVD-lab or DVDit! LE,
    2) I have either program create the Audio_TS and Video_TS,
    3) I use B's Recorder to burn the _TS folders in data mode.

I have yet to burn a disc this way that wouldn't play in a DVD player. No special codes or bitsettings. Just burn it like it was a data backup. I do this on DVD+RWs to test the quality of the encode on an old Sony DVP-S360 and Apex AD-1100W.

  5. DonRenee,

Have you upgraded your firmware yet? The current version for this drive is 2.30...

  6. yes i upgraded from 2.04 to 2.30.im still trying to trouble shoot to eliminate if it is the burner or the computer.what im thinking of doing is remove the dvd burner and the dvd player and install a cd player with a cd burner and run the system that way for a process of elimination.

    thanks
    for any help
