  1. Okay, here's my quick question: Will OS X (10.2.6)'s built-in CD/DVD burning capability, with a compliant VIDEO_TS folder, produce a usable DVD, should that folder just be copied over? I've poked around and found one similar thread, but that didn't answer my question.

    Here's my situation.

On Computer #1 (PC), I have DVD authoring tools, Nero 6, etc.

On Computer #2 (Mac OS X), I have a DVD-R, but no supplementary programs (nor can I add them).

The method of transfer between the two is a single FireWire hard drive, formatted to correctly work with both.

The only other possibility I can think of is to use Nero to make an image (testable with Daemon Tools -- great freeware Windows app) of a DVD and transfer that over, using Disk Copy to do the burning.

Just use DVD Imager on the Mac to make a DVD disk image and burn with the Finder.

Or, open up Disk Copy in the Utilities folder in your Applications folder, and create a new image from folder, choosing DVD Master (UDF) as the format. When you choose your folder to image, make sure you have a folder on the Mac's HD with the DVD's name (i.e. "MOVIE_TITLE"), containing the VIDEO_TS folder, and any other folders that were on the original DVD that you want (though they are not necessary). So you should have a folder named MOVIE_TITLE, containing the VIDEO_TS folder, and so choose the MOVIE_TITLE folder to make an image from with Disk Copy. Then, once the image is made, you can use Disk Copy to burn the image to a blank DVD-R.
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."

WiseWease's method is perhaps the best way to do this...

  5. Thank you, gentlemen. I will attend to it post-haste.

Incidentally, this is new footage done with authoring software, not a rip.
