Wow. It is just in their rumor mill section but the Digital Bits is probably the absolute most accurate site for movie rumors. It wouldn't suprise me at all if this were true.

Most of the proposed/alleged changes actually make sense. I mean it is more accurate if when Vader's helmet comes off it actually looks like Anakin from the prequels, but you know that now matter how good a job they do its still going to be very weird seeing it, and all the die hard fans are going to hate it. If Lucas were smart he'd make it seamless branching and include both versions, but I doubt it will happen.

I personally have no problem with updated special effects, but when new scenes are added or old ones are changed (greedo shoots first) it just doesn't feel right. That Jabba scene in Ep IV is the worst scene in any movie I have ever seen. They might as well just have thrown Jar Jar in there.

  4. I have no problem with Lucas changing the originals to better flow with the prequels. I'm probably in the minority, though. Then again, I own the original pre-SE and SE versions in enough formats to keep me happy when the 'Six Pack DVD Anthology' is finally available.

Trilogy is 3. That one is easy.
Aliens has shown me that a Quadrilogy is 4.
What the heck is 6? ...

    Sexilogy.
    Sexrilogy.
    Sex ... something.

Star Wars ... it's all about sex.

They had to invent a word for the Alien Quadrilogy, and its pretty stupid sounding if you ask me. I think anytime you go over three you are just supposed to call it an anthology or a collection.

I would prefer to call them "The starwars movies that you will buy even though the version of the first 3 isn't what you want, but what you want doesn't matter to lucas anymore, and the next 3 which actually came first and are very dissapointing. So enjoy your 6 disc of poop."

But thats just me...glad I still have the LDs.

  9. What about episodes 7, 8 & 9 ?? The Star Wars saga was supposed to be a nine part series.

  10. Those episodes were written by Timothy Zahn, but it's unlikely that they will ever be made into a movie - Luke & Co are getting a bit too old...

They should make him rewrite the 3 episodes 30 years after return of the jedi

I thought the Alien movies were called a 'Legacy'?
They were in the UK anyway.

Yes the initial box-set release of the Aliens movies were named the Alien Legacy. Now they are re-issuing all 4 movies in a box set called the Alien Quadrilogy.

I have a friend that has the Aliens Box Set....the one that was released initially..the "LEGACY"....would it be worth it to purchase the Quadrilogy or is it just another scam to make more money?

Was the "QUADRILOGY" digitally remastered even more then the Legacy set..or is it just additional features etc..like all the LOTR release sets?

I don't have the new box set but its definitely on my Christmas wish list. There is a review on thedigitalbits which pretty much addresses your question exactly. It lists everything that is on the initial release that is not on the new release, and vice versa and according to the writer of the review you can pretty safely throw out the legacy release if you get Quadrilogy....its that good.

If I remember correctly, everything is remastered.

I don't think my friend is gonna like that...I know he shelled out a nice piece of change for that set. But I gotta break the news to him. Man..that really sucks. Why do the studios just force rush titles like this out..only to come downt he road with an entirely new set. I can see them doing it again and calling it QUADLEGACY....unreal.
