I have a Pioneer 105 and every now and then Nero won't burn giving the error message "Power calibration error". What is this?

If you do a forum search for "power calibration error", you will find numerous posts blaming the media.
Basically it means the recorder could not find a power level to drive the laser at which could subsequently be accurately read back as part of the burn process. -
I have those problem with that burner too when burning cds, not dvds. Solved burning at 12x instead of 16x and/or using disc at once 96 mode instead of disc at once.
hope this helps you

I have had this prob with my A04 and i spoke to pioneer and they said it was due to the media having incorrect code on disc for writer to read so it could determine the write speed available for that disc.
