Someone told me that when used constantly, the commercial DVDs do wear off. He told me that constantly spinning DVDs displayed for example in a rental store get thrown out after 3 weeks (he was talking about the DVD itself, not the player)
Any thoughts?

I don't doubt they stop using them after 3 weeks - but only because the staff are brainwashed sick of them and the title no longer being "current" or leading edge...
