I'm about out of blanks and need some more .
It would be nice to go to 2X.
Do any of you folks have an A03 and burn at 2X ?
Looks like Ritek G04 might work.

    TDK, IMATION, FUJI, VERBATIM

    all work fine
the problem with the A03 and 2x burns is there were some HACKs to the firmware..so it will work if you didn't install one of those "rogue"
    (non-pioneer)firmwares

    -minus ONLY of course)
    the following did 1x
    princo, compusa, optimum
by the way..often blanks marked 4x will only burn at 1x in this drive

    Maxell MXL 2x - Walmart, Fry's
    Apple 2x - outpost.com, Fry's, Microcenter
    Ritek G4 4x - RIMA
    Optodisc 4x - RIMA
Princo 4x (with mixed results) - RIMA
    TDK 2x - Target

Not Ritek G3, not even with 2x4all firmware
    2x4all not ever suggested

My 103 acts great on Optodisc and Ritek 4x discs.
More expensive Maxell and Apple great results too.

Thanks for the info. My problem is I can get 100 1X for $69
and anything that works 2X in a A03 costs at least $30 more.
3 episodes like that and I could pay for a A06 and get 4X.
Maybe I get a xmas present

  6. My a03 has a 2.0 firmware.

verbatum datalife plus and ritek g03's say they burn at 2x but the time of a full burn is only 7 minutes shorter than if it was burned using 1x.

I am just waiting for this bad boy to go out so I can get a faster one, but with my luck it will keep burning for some time to come.

good news is it did quit reading and writting cdrs lat week.

I will stay with all pioneer drives. they last forever. sadly
