ARGHHHHH! I thought I would have this up and running in an hour, a day later and I'm ready to flip on the thing.
I'm setting up a Counter-Strike server on a crap computer... just to see how well it can handle it and I've had problems in abundance. One of the harddrives refused to recognize so I'm left with a 1.6 gig drive.
I got Win 98 on there, and I managed to shoehorn Steam with it... leaving about 112mb of breathing room... but the friggin video card drivers aren't taking. Reading up on the vid-card after the fact, it says is supports Direct X 7 and 8... and I went ahead and let Windows Update put 9b on the system. Is that the problem?
When I login to the system the control panel says it cannot function since the drivers aren't working but the Display is fine, and when I go into display properties it says the 7000 and it gives me options of 2 displays and colors/resolutions. But when I try to change the resolutions or colors it immediately reverts to 16color 640x480 when applied, and asks to reboot to implement the changes (which have already reverted).
System: PII-400mhz 256 ram
PS: I misplaced the driver CD, so I was 'forced' to use the latest drivers from the website.
