  1. ok, the following question is probably completely retarted, but I will ask it anyway, and no replies saying, "are you stupid...", please:

Can you put a cd label (like the sticker) on a normal dvd, or do you have to buy special ones? Cause I'm having problems with my burnt dvd's (like the video freezes for a sec on a frame, or the video runs slowly), and it might be because of the cd label I put on it. I'm not sure if that's the problem, but I'm asking anyways....

  2. You can put a sticker label on a DVD, but it's not recommended.
There are some DVD Players that won't play DVDs with stickers of any kind on the DVD...even a small strip or portion.
Check your DVD's manual - some will specifically tell you that they won't play with stickers on the DVD.

The video freezing may or may not have anything to do with the sticker label - sometimes it's player itself (the laser might need cleaned or replaced or the player may have incompatibility issues with the media you're using)
The media may just be a bad brand or defective.
Or it might be a bad write/burn - speed you used to write/burn
The media might not be compatible with your burner or the speed you burned at.

If you can, try playing the DVD at question in as many players as you can.

There were a few times I thought it might have been a bad burn, and it just ened up being one standalone player - not the burn or media at all.

And I don't even use sticker labels.

  3. I think it depends on a combination of things, the labels you use, the media you use and the DVD player you are playing the discs in. Some people have problems others do not.

There is a thread discussing this issue here

  4. one more question then. If I was to decide to burn the dvd's with labels on them to ones without, would it still freeze as before, or not?

as long as the labelled dvd is read/ripped ok then you shouldn't have a problem.
I had a backup of Top Gun which was labelled and would freeze towards the end, i succesfully ripped to hard drive and burned again to non labelled disc and now it works flawlessly.
