  1. I just saw that Wallgreens is going to have a one time, one day sale on 11/28 for 5 hours. They have a ton of great prices on things..but DVD AND VHS tapes stand out the most. Apparently they are offering 2 DVD's for $5 and 2 VHS tapes for $3. That is the ABSOLUTE best deal i've EVER SEEN ON ANY DVD OR VHS TAPE. It doesn't specify whether these are new or used, but who cares. That's an INSANE DEAL and i'll be all on it. Just figured i'd pass this insane deal on to everyone else. :P

Do you know if it's going to be new movies or some old crappy ones?

  5. The ad was sent to me via email...it's a legit ad. I copied the "text" from the ad....because the picture with "WALGREENS" in it..was too big to post...and I didn't feel like editing it.

@Devanshu....the movies won't be brand new releases like T-3 or Finding Nemo..I wouldn't think...but no doubt you can get some really good movies. There is a limit of 4 per person..but of course..that doesn't mean much as you can keep coming back or go to various Wallgreens...there are 3 Wallgreens within' 10 miles of me...one of them being within' a quarter mile..so i'll be on that sale like white on rice. :P

You must live in Downtown Chi-Town then..huh? You can take full advantage of this deal. As I said..i've NEVER heard of a DVD movie or VHS movie being this low priced. The best i've seen is about $4-5 for ONE...and even that is rare...but $2.50 per DVD and I have never purchased a VHS tape in my life...but $1.50 PER VHS??? And they are in all likelihood NEW....SHIT.....that's insanity.

be nice to see how many Wal-Marts you could hit in that 5 hour period...

I could see dropping $30 on a dozen movies... I keep hearing on another forum about all the shit they've been kicking in the $5.88 bin, so it could be some hot stuff, if you like B movies.

I don't know, all the walgreens around me have two piles of movies. One is the new release section where the DVDs are about $10 overpriced and the other is the $5-10 section which is filled with movies that I guarantee you nobody has ever heard of. Alot of them are really old tv series from the 60's. My guess is that this deal is only going to apply to this crap section, but I will still check it out anyway since I have a Walgreen's up the street.

housepig I've bought a few movies from Walmart's $5.88 bin but never again. Even if you find a movie that you have actually heard of, there is no guarantee that what you see is what you get. Alot of the movies are blatant false advertising, ie uses retail coverart saying its dual layered WS edition but movie is actually single sided FS.

yes, I would have been quite pissed - I totally misread it, I had Walmart on the brain...

good anyway - there's far more Wallgreens in my neck of the woods than WalMarts...

So, just to be clear, this is Walgreens - not Wal-Mart. Defense, I think Housepig said it because you said it was WALMART (see your quote above). I heard about this somewhere else and they also said it was at Walgreens. Might be a good idea (he he) to go to Walgreens now and find some of the discs you might be interested in (assuming they have them in stock now, albeit at higher price) and stash them away behind some tampon boxes or something where guys don't look - then come back and buy them next Friday
Everyone post back here later next week and see what kind of "treasures" are found... just curious.

Stiltman, that sucks - they're hiding them from us! I'll try to wait until next Thursday nite and go and see if they have any out on the floor yet. Also will check this weekend and see, maybe some WG around here have some out already. Could get lucky

  16. @ Roundabout...yes..it's definitely Wallgreens, I put that in the title and my first post....I did see where I wrote Walmart later on...but that was a mistake..i've edited it..thanks.

Good idea on the hiding of the DVD's....a friend of mine used to work at Dadeland Mall..which is one of the biggest malls in the Country....at least it was at that time...he worked in the Polo "Ralph Lauren" Dept...every so often Polo would go down to as much as 75% off...he'd hide it in the inventory room...for himself and any friend that wanted stuff....he'd then purchase the stuff with his additional 10% Employee discount on top of the 75% off Polo clothes...and then we'd pay him the price he paid. Basically..it worked out to where I'd get $100 pants and shirts.... for around $10 or so. I've got so much Polo stuff that way it's crazy..I even have a Polo Jump Rope....everyone loves that...but I'm keeping that as a collector's item.

Anyway...good idea on the hiding...it definitely works...as long as someone doesn't find it cleaning up at night.

Yeah, this trick works other places too. Last year, before Xmas, my wife found some Xmas cards she really liked at Target, but were too expensive to buy at that time. Knowing that all this stuff is 50 - 75% off afterwards, we hid several boxes of them behind some large furniture type boxes a couple of days beforehand. Then we came right after Xmas and picked them up, no problem at all. The real trick is to hide them behind something that you are relatively sure won't be moved or bought before the sale. That's why you don't want to do it until a day or so beforehand, so it lessens the chances it will be found.
I'm sure other people have thought of this, just thought I'd mention it for the benefit of anyone here who hadn't thought of it before.

lol I played the hide a trick not to long ago at target when they had the TDK DVDs onsale at a good price. they had a TINY little section for DVDrs and only had 2 25 packs left. I didn't have cash for both so I got one and stashed the other. Passing by later that night I picked the 2nd one up. I guess its just one of those things eveyone has done or at least considered doing at one time or another.

Man, I hope Savant doesn't see this thread. Yunz is a bunch of pirates!!!

Still, if the kids leave my house early enough Thurssday, I just might see if there iss a Walgreens near me.

Someone above is right, there is a whole buncha shit in the 5.88 dumpster at the other Wal, as in Mart, mostly pure garbage.

    Cheers,

    George

Well, nothing illegal going on here - the product is still in the store and we didn't steal it or something. We just "deferred the purchase" a few days he he

Since all the good stuff at Target gets bought immediately the morning after Xmas and I'm too lazy to get up at 5 a.m. to go shopping, this solves the problem of selling out of the stuff I want.

Speaking of which, since the shopping season doesn't look to be shaping up a whole lot better than last year, maybe there'll be some good deals after Xmas to be had (maybe even better than Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving). We shall see.

  21. REMINDER.........just a reminder that tomorrow "IS" from what i've been told..the BIGGEST sale day of the ENTIRE YEAR in the USA. Many stores have hour sales...such as wallgreens which will have insane sales for 5 hours or so.....so get in there...get your stuff...and get out.

Also...Office Depot has a 6 hour sale..they will open at a special time.........6 a.m. (if you can beleive that) and have sick sales until noon or so. Some really nice $100 DVD players will be at $29.99....as well as many other things. Hopefully many will be able to take advantage of these insane deals. ENJOY.

if your Wallgreens is like mine, you didn't miss much.

I hit two, and bought a grand total of 2 discs - slim pickins, unless you're into WWF or bad public-domain animation.

scored Romper Stomper though, that was a good deal.

I had to decide whether to go to WG or another's store 6 hour sale, and decided to go to CC where they had 32" Apex TV's for $200.00 - great deal, but even though we were there early and was among the first inside, it was total chaos. By the time we got to a register and asked about the TV's, they were gone. Apparently they only had 20 of them.
Wound up buying a 27" Apex for $129.00. Not as good a deal.
Went to BB after that and picked up a 120GB Maxtor 7200/8MB cache for $49.99 after rebate. Only problem was the lines - stretched around the store and up and down aisles and wound up taking 2 1/2 hours to check out. Definitely the longest I ever waited in line for anything at a retail store. If I had known the line was that slow, I would have left for deals somewhere else. As it was, by the time I got outta there it was too late to pick up deals anywhere else.
Spent the rest of the time at Wal-Mart getting a few other minor items. Since WG is miles away from here, decided not to go there, glad I didn't if you guys didn't find anything better than what you've mentioned there.
Went down to PC Club and got the LiteOn LVD-2002 for $99.99 with the rebate.
    Came home pooped. Slept.

I went to CC to get that tv. By 5:20 all of them were sold out. I had to go to Wal-mart and got a 31" Sanyo for $300. Also bought a little power wheels for my niece.
